Salmon Topping
- 1 lb fresh salmon fillet (skinless and diced)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Green onions for garnish
- Nori strips for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the sushi casserole.
- Cook Rice: Cook sushi rice according to package instructions. While still warm, gently fold in the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt mixture to season the rice evenly.
- Prepare Salmon Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced salmon with mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, sesame oil, and chopped green onions. Mix well to create a creamy, spicy topping.
- Assemble the Bake: Spread the seasoned sushi rice evenly in a baking dish. Layer the salmon mixture evenly over the rice to create a uniform top layer.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the salmon is cooked through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with additional green onions and nori strips if desired. Serve warm for a delicious sushi-inspired meal.
Notes
- Use fresh, high-quality salmon for the best flavor and texture.
- Adjust the amount of Sriracha to control the spice level according to your preference.
- Allow the sushi bake to cool slightly before serving to help it set for easier slicing.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and enjoyed cold or reheated gently.
- Optional: Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi for a more authentic sushi experience.
