Description

Enjoy crispy, flavorful kale chips with this easy and foolproof recipe featuring sea salt and garlic powder. This healthy snack is made by massaging olive oil and seasonings into fresh kale leaves and baking them until perfectly crunchy.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized bunch of kale, washed and dried very well
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • A pinch or two of sea salt
  • A pinch of garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it is at the correct temperature for baking the kale chips evenly.
  2. Prepare Kale: Wash and dry one bunch of kale thoroughly, making sure the leaves are completely dry to prevent soggy chips.
  3. Remove Stems and Tear Leaves: Rip the leaves off the stems and away from the tough veins, tearing them into chip-sized pieces for even baking.
  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Lay the kale pieces out on an unlined baking sheet, making sure they are in a single layer and not overlapping.
  5. Oil and Season: Drizzle 2 teaspoons of olive oil evenly over the kale leaves. Gently massage the oil into the leaves until fully coated, focusing on every fold and surface. Then sprinkle with a pinch or two of sea salt and a pinch of garlic powder for flavor.
  6. Bake the Kale: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. Then rotate the pan and flip any pieces that look crispy. Continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, watching closely for the last 7-8 minutes to prevent burning.
  7. Cool and Crisp: Remove the kale chips from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes to crisp up further before serving.

Notes

  • Be sure kale leaves are completely dry before oiling to avoid soggy chips.
  • Do not add too much oil as it can add moisture and reduce crispiness.
  • Watch kale closely near the end of baking to prevent burning.
  • Use an unlined baking sheet for best crisping results.
