Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Seasoning
- 4 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
Liquid and Flavorings
- 1 cup pepperoncini juice
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup pepperoncini peppers
Instructions
- Prepare the Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or line it with a slow cooker liner to make cleanup quick and easy.
- Arrange the Chicken: Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of the slow cooker to ensure even cooking throughout.
- Add Juices and Seasonings: Pour the pepperoncini juice evenly over the chicken. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix and the au jus gravy mix evenly on top to distribute the flavors well.
- Top with Butter and Peppers: Scatter the unsalted butter pieces over the chicken. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers around and on top of the dish to add tangy heat and flavor.
- Slow Cook the Chicken: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours. The chicken will become tender and shred easily when fully cooked.
- Shred and Serve: Using two forks, shred the chicken right in the slow cooker. Toss the shredded chicken thoroughly with the flavorful, buttery sauce before serving.
Notes
- For milder heat, reduce the amount of pepperoncini peppers used or remove seeds before adding.
- Use a slow cooker liner to minimize cleanup time.
- Great served over rice, mashed potatoes, or inside sandwiches and wraps.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- The chicken can also be cooked on high for faster results, but low and slow cooking yields more tender meat.
