Ingredients
Scale
Pretzel Crust
- 2 ½ cups crushed pretzels
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup salted butter, melted and cooled
Cream Cheese Layer
- 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 12 ounces whipped topping, thawed
Lemon Topping & Garnish
- 22 ounces lemon pie filling (Lucky Leaf brand recommended)
- 4 ounces whipped topping, thawed (for garnish)
- ¼ cup crushed pretzels (for garnish)
- 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced into 12 slices (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep the Crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- Make the Pretzel Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 ½ cups crushed pretzels with ½ cup granulated sugar. Pour in the melted, cooled butter and stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Bake the Crust: Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, ensuring it’s evenly spread. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove and allow it to cool completely.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: Beat the softened cream cheese on medium speed for 1 to 1½ minutes until smooth. Add ¾ cup granulated sugar and beat for another 2 minutes until fully incorporated and creamy.
- Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold 12 ounces of thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula, being careful to keep the mixture light and fluffy.
- Assemble the Layers: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust layer in the baking dish.
- Add the Lemon Topping: Spoon the entire 22 ounces of lemon pie filling over the cream cheese layer and spread it out evenly for a smooth top.
- Chill & Garnish: Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to allow the dessert to set, though chilling overnight is ideal for best texture and flavor. Before serving, garnish with the remaining ¼ cup crushed pretzels, extra whipped topping, and thin lemon slices if desired.
- Serve: Slice into 12 equal pieces and enjoy this sweet, tangy, and crunchy treat!
Notes
- Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to avoid melting.
- Use salted butter as it enhances the sweet and salty flavor balance in the crust.
- For a stronger lemon flavor, you may add a teaspoon of lemon zest into the cream cheese mixture.
- Keep the dessert refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain texture and freshness.
- Optional lemon slices add a beautiful decorative touch but can be omitted if preferred.
