Ingredients
Scale
Plain Hot Buttered Cheerios
- â…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
- 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal
Cinnamon Sugar Hot Buttered Cheerios
- â…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
- 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Ranch Hot Buttered Cheerios
- â…“ cup salted butter (sliced into pats)
- 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal
- 1 ounce package dry ranch dressing mix
Instructions
- Prepare the Butter: Add the sliced butter to a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until the butter is completely melted, then remove the skillet from heat.
- Make Plain Hot Buttered Cheerios: Add 4 cups of plain Cheerios to the melted butter in the skillet and stir to completely coat the cereal with butter. Serve immediately while warm.
- Make Cinnamon Sugar Hot Buttered Cheerios: After melting the butter, stir in ½ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract until fully incorporated. Add 4 cups of Cheerios and stir to coat well.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Transfer the buttered Cheerios to a large mixing bowl (4-5 quarts). In a smaller bowl (3-4 cups), combine ¼ cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the Cheerios and stir thoroughly to coat evenly. Alternatively, place the Cheerios and cinnamon sugar mixture in a large ziplock bag (2 gallons), seal tightly, and shake to coat the cereal completely. Serve warm.
- Make Ranch Hot Buttered Cheerios: Melt the butter as previously described, then stir in 4 cups of Cheerios until fully coated.
- Add Ranch Dressing Mix: Sprinkle 1 ounce package of dry ranch dressing mix over the buttered Cheerios and stir until evenly coated. You can also use a large ziplock bag (2 gallons), seal it tightly, and shake to distribute the ranch mix evenly. Serve while warm.
Notes
- Use a nonstick skillet to prevent burning the butter or cereal.
- Make sure to remove the skillet from heat before adding Cheerios to avoid overheating or burning.
- For even coating and less mess, shaking the cereal and seasoning in a sealed ziplock bag works great.
- Serve hot for the best flavor and texture; the butter coating will harden as it cools.
- Adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar or ranch seasoning to taste if preferred.
