- ½ tsp sea salt (more or less to taste)
- 2 tsp corn starch
Bang Bang Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
- ½-1 Tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 2 tsp honey
To Serve
- Cooked rice
- Shredded carrots
- Sliced cucumbers
- Shelled edamame
- Pickled onions
- Avocado
- Shredded cabbage
- Sliced green onion
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prep Bang Bang Sauce: Add all Bang Bang sauce ingredients (mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, and honey) to a small bowl. Whisk thoroughly until smooth and well combined. Adjust the flavor by adding more sriracha for extra spice or more honey/sweet chili sauce to balance the heat. Chill the sauce until ready to serve.
- Cook Ground Turkey: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil. Once shimmering, add ground turkey, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spatula. Cook until browned and the internal temperature reaches 165°F, ensuring the meat is fully cooked through.
- Add Seasonings and Simmer: Lower the heat to medium-low. Stir in garlic, grated ginger, smoked paprika, onion powder, soy sauce, sriracha, chicken broth, honey, black pepper, and sea salt. Simmer the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to combine the flavors evenly.
- Thicken the Sauce: Sprinkle corn starch over the turkey mixture, stirring well to incorporate and thicken the sauce gently. Just before serving, optionally stir in about 2 tablespoons of prepared Bang Bang sauce into the turkey for added flavor and creaminess.
- Assemble Rice Bowls: In individual bowls, add a base of cooked rice and top with fresh veggies like shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, edamame, pickled onions, avocado, shredded cabbage, and any other preferred toppings. Spoon the warm ground turkey mixture over the rice and vegetables. Drizzle extra Bang Bang sauce on top, then garnish with sliced green onion and sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.
Notes
- Adjust the spiciness of both the Bang Bang sauce and turkey mixture by varying the amount of sriracha used.
- You can swap ground turkey with ground chicken or lean ground pork if preferred.
- For a low-sodium version, use reduced-sodium soy sauce and adjust added salt accordingly.
- Prep the Bang Bang sauce in advance to let flavors meld and save time on serving day.
- Serve with steamed or cauliflower rice for a lower-carb option.
- Store leftover turkey mixture and Bang Bang sauce separately in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
