Ingredients
Scale
Ice Cream Base
- 3 cups eggnog (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions
- Prepare Ice Cream Maker: If your ice cream machine requires it, chill the ice cream bowl for at least 24 hours or until frozen solid to ensure proper freezing during churning.
- Pour Eggnog: Pour 3 cups of cold eggnog into the chilled bowl of your ice cream maker to begin the churning process.
- Churn Ice Cream: Churn the eggnog according to your ice cream machine’s instructions, usually about 40 minutes, until it reaches the consistency of soft-serve ice cream.
- Transfer to Container: Spoon the churned eggnog ice cream into a freezer-safe container, such as a loaf pan, and press plastic wrap or parchment paper directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals.
- Freeze Until Firm: Freeze the container for 3-4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm enough for scooping.
- Serve: Remove the ice cream from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before scooping and enjoying.
Notes
- Make sure the eggnog is cold before pouring it into the ice cream maker to speed up the freezing process.
- If you don’t have an ice cream maker, consider freezing the mixture in a container and stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals.
- For an extra festive touch, sprinkle nutmeg or cinnamon on top before serving.
- Use store-bought eggnog for convenience, or make your own for a richer homemade flavor.
- Eating within a few days ensures the best creamy texture and flavor.
