Description

Crispy Baked Feta Rolls with Hot Chili Lemon Honey are golden, flaky appetizers featuring creamy feta cheese wrapped in buttery phyllo pastry. These easy-to-make rolls are baked to perfection and drizzled with a vibrant, tangy honey sauce infused with chili and lemon for a delightful sweet-spicy kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Phyllo Rolls

  • 200 g feta cheese, cut into small rectangular sticks
  • 6 sheets phyllo pastry
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Hot Chili Lemon Honey Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 small red chili, finely chopped (or ½ tsp chili flakes)
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper to prepare for baking the rolls.
  2. Prepare Phyllo Strips: Lay one sheet of phyllo on a clean surface, brush it with melted butter, place another sheet on top and brush again with butter. Cut the layered phyllo into strips about 6–8 cm wide.
  3. Assemble Rolls: Place a feta stick at one end of each phyllo strip. Fold the sides over the feta and roll tightly into a cylinder shape to enclose the cheese.
  4. Prepare for Baking: Brush the outside of each roll with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using, ensuring a crispy, golden crust after baking.
  5. Bake Rolls: Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking tray and bake for 15–20 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Make Sauce: While the rolls bake, gently warm the honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the finely chopped chili, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Let it warm for 1–2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  7. Serve: Drizzle the hot chili lemon honey over the freshly baked feta rolls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added color and freshness.
  8. Enjoy Immediately: Serve the rolls right away to enjoy their crispy texture and vibrant flavors at their best.

Notes

  • Phyllo pastry dries out quickly; keep unused sheets covered with a damp cloth while assembling.
  • Adjust chili amount based on your preferred spice level.
  • Sesame seeds add a nice crunch but can be omitted if desired.
  • Serve these rolls as an appetizer or party snack for a crowd-pleasing treat.
  • The honey sauce can be prepared in advance and warmed just before serving.
