Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 chicken breasts
Mushroom Sauce
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Brown the chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the chicken breasts on both sides until they develop a golden crust, about 4-5 minutes each side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté mushrooms and garlic: In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the cream and simmer: Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine with the mushrooms and garlic. Let the sauce simmer gently for 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Return chicken and cook through: Place the browned chicken breasts back into the skillet with the creamy mushroom sauce. Spoon sauce over the chicken, cover, and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Notes
- Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts for even cooking and ease.
- Adjust the creaminess by adding more or less heavy cream to your preference.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle fresh thyme or parsley over the dish before serving.
- Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
- Make sure the chicken is fully cooked by checking the internal temperature or cutting into the thickest part to see that the juices run clear.
