Description

Classic Pecan Tassies are delightful mini pies featuring a buttery cream cheese crust filled with a rich, sweet pecan mixture. Perfect for parties, holidays, or any occasion, these bite-sized treats combine a tender pastry with a luscious filling for an irresistible dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • ½ cup Butter, softened
  • 3 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour

Filling

  • 1¼ cups Brown Sugar (light brown sugar preferred)
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Pecans, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the tassies.
  2. Make the Dough: In a stand mixer, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Beat on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 1 minute.
  3. Add Flour: Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the butter and cream cheese mixture. Mix on medium speed until the dough comes together into a soft ball, about 3 minutes.
  4. Form Tart Shells: Divide the dough into 24 equal portions, each about ½ ounce. Press each dough ball firmly into the cups of a mini muffin tin, shaping into small tart shells.
  5. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and chopped pecans until well combined.
  6. Fill Tart Shells: Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the pecan filling into each prepared tart shell in the muffin tin.
  7. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the filling is set and the crust is lightly golden.
  8. Cool: Allow the pecan tassies to cool in the pan for 6 to 7 minutes to firm up before transferring them carefully to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use high-quality vanilla extract for the best flavor.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the flour with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • To make vegan tassies, replace eggs with flaxseed eggs and use vegan butter and cream cheese alternatives.
  • Walnuts can be substituted for pecans if preferred.
  • Ensure butter and cream cheese are softened for easier mixing and a smoother dough.
