Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake
- 6 large cinnamon rolls (from a tube or homemade)
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- Optional: icing for drizzling (usually included with pre-packaged cinnamon rolls)
Instructions
- Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters to create bite-sized pieces for the bake.
- Make Egg Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until fully combined and smooth.
- Combine Rolls and Custard: Place the cut cinnamon rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Pour the egg custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls, pressing them gently to soak.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the casserole for 30 minutes or until the custard is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Add Icing: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle the icing provided with the cinnamon rolls over the top before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some cinnamon or nutmeg over the custard before baking.
- You can prepare this dish the night before; refrigerate after assembling and bake fresh in the morning.
- Use a non-stick or buttered baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Serve warm with additional maple syrup or fresh fruit.
