Description
Berry Tiramisu Trifle is an easy, no-bake, creamy layered dessert that combines the classic flavors of tiramisu with fresh mixed berries. This refreshing trifle features layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and macerated berries, finished with a dusting of cocoa powder or grated chocolate, making it perfect for warm weather or any special occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Tiramisu Layer:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- Ladyfingers, enough to cover the bottom of the trifle dish
For the Berry Layer:
- 3 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons berry liqueur (optional)
For Garnish:
- Additional mixed berries
- Cocoa powder or grated chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare the Tiramisu Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, creating a light, creamy filling.
- Soak the Ladyfingers: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso and coffee liqueur if using. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into this mixture, ensuring they absorb the coffee flavor but do not become soggy.
- Macerate the Berries: In a separate bowl, toss mixed berries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and berry liqueur if using. Allow the berries to macerate for about 15 minutes to release their juices and enhance their sweetness.
- Assemble the Trifle: In a trifle dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the tiramisu cream evenly over the ladyfingers. Spoon half of the macerated berries on top of the cream layer. Repeat these layers with the remaining ladyfingers, tiramisu cream, and berries to build a beautiful layered dessert.
- Chill: Cover the assembled trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. This resting time allows the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish the top of the trifle with additional fresh mixed berries and sprinkle with cocoa powder or grated chocolate for an elegant finish. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee and berry liqueurs.
- Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor and texture.
- Ladyfingers should be dipped quickly to avoid excessive sogginess.
- This dessert can be prepared a day ahead, making it perfect for entertaining.
- If espresso is not available, strong brewed coffee works as a good substitute.
