Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 250g digestive biscuits, crushed
- 395g sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
Topping
- 200g dark chocolate, melted
- 100g toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the tin: Line an 8×8 inch baking tin with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make it easy to lift the slice out once set.
- Mix biscuit base: In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed digestive biscuits with the sweetened condensed milk until the biscuits are evenly coated and form a sticky mixture.
- Add hazelnuts to base: Stir in half of the chopped toasted hazelnuts into the biscuit mixture for added crunch and flavor throughout the base.
- Press mixture into tin: Firmly press the biscuit and hazelnut mixture into the lined baking tin using a spatula or back of a spoon to create an even, compact layer.
- Pour and spread chocolate: Pour the melted dark chocolate evenly over the pressed biscuit base, spreading it out with a spatula for a smooth chocolate top layer.
- Top with hazelnuts: Sprinkle the remaining chopped hazelnuts over the melted chocolate to add texture and garnish.
- Chill until set: Refrigerate the slice for at least 2 hours or until the chocolate and base are fully firm and set.
- Slice and serve: Lift the slice from the tin using the parchment paper, then use a hot knife to cut into 16 squares. Serve chilled.
Notes
- Use a hot knife dipped in boiling water for clean chocolate cuts.
- Digestive biscuits provide a crunchy, slightly sweet base; you can substitute with graham crackers if preferred.
- Ensure the hazelnuts are toasted for optimal flavor and crunch.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- For a nut-free version, omit hazelnuts and add extra crushed biscuits.
